Unless you just crawled out from under a rock, you've heard of MTV, seen the videos, Beavis and Butthead, or at least watched a wacky game show or two. Go on an MTV casting call and you might be rich and famous by the end of the week. An MTV casting call is like no other. No, you are not drilled by Ozzy Osbourne on your knowledge of North Britain's concert circuit, or berated by Mariah Carey about your total lack of grace and poise in executing your memorized dance routine.
Maybe you imagine being amazed by some of the talent that you see in the room, musicians whom you idolize, world famous music video directors and, keep your cool, music video models. The ones that dance and play the singer's girlfriend, the ones we all (c'mon, girls, admit it) have come to love. What would ZZ Top's famous videos have been without the trio of girls-your-mother-told-you-to-stay-away-from? Did they ever have to go on an MTV casting call? Perhaps a ZZ Top casting call?
Of course, not every MTV casting call is for a music video. In fact, truth be told, MTV itself probably produces very few music videos. Usually it is the record company or the band itself that bears this task. An MTV casting call nowadays will be for anything from feature length films to game shows to reality TV shows, among other things. If you can box out the competition, soon you will have your MTV.
