Modeling opportunities for infants exist in TV shows, TV commercials, film, video, fashion shows, and print modeling.
When a baby casting call does arise, have information about your child ready to show someone. Take a black and white or color snapshot of your baby so you have prints ready to show. Put your contact information on the back of the photo so the director can get in touch with you.
The photo does not have to be professional quality, but try to obtain the best photograph you can. Babies change much too quickly and updating professional grade photos may prove to be cost prohibitive. Note the date of birth, the height, weight, and hair and eye color of your baby. Don't worry if your infant doesn't have experience, as babies are not expected to have a resume. However if your baby does have experience, put it on the resume.
Most people tend to think that to get your infant into modeling, you need to live in a major metropolitan area. Although living somewhere like L.A. or New York is preferable, it isn't a necessity. Projects are filmed and shot all over the world.
Casting directors look for certain traits in babies. They prefer babies with even temperaments and long attention spans. Most toddlers cannot sit still for very long so having this trait really gives those babies preference over others.
And if the little one can imitate facial expressions and gestures, they are really in high demand. Photographers and directors love these kinds of infants because it makes it much easier for them to capture an expression.
If the infant is selected as a model, they can make anywhere from $50-$150 per hour. Television commercials can be even more lucrative, but in the U.S. that kind of work is harder to find and the really big payouts only come for TV ads that play for years.
